Jaipur, March 9, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : Heat has started intensifying in Rajasthan early in March, with temperatures rising sharply across several parts of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in most regions is currently 5 to 10 degrees Celsius above normal.

The department has warned that temperatures may increase further in the coming days, and heatwave conditions may develop in some areas of south-western Rajasthan on March 10 and 11. In the border district of Barmer, the temperature has already reached 40 degrees Celsius, and roads in the area are reportedly becoming quieter due to the rising heat.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, the maximum temperature across most districts of the state is currently between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, the highest temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Pilani.
Minimum temperatures have also remained above normal. In Jaipur, the minimum temperature was recorded at 22.8 degrees Celsius, which is around 7 degrees higher than normal.
The weather department has predicted that dry weather conditions are likely to continue across most parts of the state for the next one week. Over the next 48 hours, maximum temperatures may increase slightly, and several districts may see temperatures reaching 38 to 40 degrees Celsius within the next two to three days.
During this period, isolated heatwave conditions may occur between March 9 and March 11. However, a new western disturbance is expected to become active over north-west India around March 11–12, which may lead to a drop in temperature by about 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has advised people to take precautions against the heat. According to officials, elderly persons, children and those with health issues are more vulnerable to heat-related problems. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may increase the risk of heat stress and dehydration.
Farmers have also been advised to take necessary steps to protect crops and vegetables from the impact of rising temperatures.
The department has urged people to avoid direct sunlight during afternoon hours, drink adequate water and step outside only when necessary. Citizens have also been requested to arrange water for animals and birds during the hot weather.
