New Delhi, June 19: The ‘Developed India – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission – Rural’ (VB-G Ram Ji) Act is set to be implemented across all rural areas starting July 1. To facilitate this, the central government has decided to deploy over 100 officials nationwide.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, these officials will assist states and union territories in the rollout of the VB-G Ram Ji Act. They will serve as facilitators and resource persons during the implementation phase.
The officials will collaborate with state governments and district administrations to ensure effective implementation, strengthen local capacities, facilitate information exchange, address work-related challenges, and promote the adoption of best practices.
They will also engage with local authorities to understand implementation needs, assist in the exchange of experiences and best practices, support capacity-building efforts, and help resolve operational issues.
An official statement noted that their involvement will enhance coordination among various stakeholders and aid in the effective implementation of the act during the transition to the new framework. This initiative has been launched to provide institutional support and ensure the smooth implementation of the act across the country.
Approximately 27 states and union territories have already allocated budget provisions for the act’s implementation, while six have notified their state plans under the act’s framework. The statement mentioned that the remaining states and union territories are well advanced in finalizing their plans.
A central feature of this act is the increase of the statutory employment guarantee for all rural families from 100 days to 125 days each financial year. This enhanced guarantee aims to strengthen livelihood security, improve income stability, support rural consumption, and provide greater economic resilience to vulnerable families.
The framework is based on the principle of ‘Employment and Dignity,’ aiming not only to provide wage-based employment but also to ensure that rural workers actively participate in the creation of sustainable and productive public assets that contribute to long-term village development.
