As I made my way to the stadium, it felt as though the German supporters outnumbered their American counterparts. Outside the venue, a lively biergarten set up by the German Consulate offered traditional food, beer, and live music from a polka band, creating a festive environment.
Inside the stadium, the energy was electric. US Soccer used this match as a “send-off game,” introducing their full roster before kick-off. Although the German national anthem was played from a recording, fans sang along passionately.
