Gulmarg, Pahalgam Witness Snow; More Rain and Snowfall Expected in Coming Days
Srinagar, January 29 : The higher reaches of Kashmir, including popular tourist destinations Gulmarg and Pahalgam, received fresh snowfall, while several plains experienced light rainfall.
The ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir recorded 2.5 cm of snowfall and 3.8 mm of rain, while Pahalgam in South Kashmir witnessed 2.7 cm of snow and 1.8 mm of rain overnight.
According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall was also reported in Sonamarg (Ganderbal district) and the upper reaches of Kupwara, turning the region into a winter wonderland for tourists. Meanwhile, the 40-day harshest winter period, ‘Chillai Kalan,’ is set to conclude tonight, marking the end of Kashmir’s most frigid season.
