Krishna Play Aims to Convey Cultural and Religious Messages to the New Generation: Shobha Deepak Singh

New Delhi, August 29: Shobha Deepak Singh, Chairperson of the Shri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra and Padma Shri awardee, elaborated on the renowned ‘Krishna’ play. She highlighted that this presentation has long established its unique identity among audiences, showcasing the life of Lord Krishna and his messages through theatrical performance.

Singh explained that the concept and presentation of the ‘Krishna’ play are quite old, encompassing significant events from Lord Krishna’s birth to his life. The performance aims to convey the concepts of duty and righteousness to the audience through messages like “Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya…”

She emphasized the importance of such presentations today, as many people are not well-acquainted with the aspects of Krishna’s life that are essential for the current generation to understand. To make the program more accessible and comprehensible, special arrangements have been made regarding the language used. The performance is primarily in Hindi, with dialogues and scenes also explained in English for the audience’s convenience.

Screens have been installed on both sides of the stage, translating the dialogues spoken by the artists into English, ensuring that those who struggle with Hindi can easily grasp the story and its messages.

Singh specifically urged parents to bring their children to watch the play. She noted that the content and presentation have been designed with children in mind, as such programs can effectively connect the new generation with Indian culture, traditions, and religious narratives. Understanding Krishna’s life and messages is particularly crucial for today’s youth, as many are only familiar with a few well-known stories while lacking knowledge about other aspects and philosophies of his life.

She also mentioned that audience convenience has been considered, with food and beverage arrangements available during the intermission for families and children. The aim is for families to enjoy the program together and for children to engage with this cultural presentation. Singh expressed hope that after watching the play, audiences will understand various facets of Krishna’s life and feel the need to share these insights with their families and children.
