Mumbai, August 29: AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan has condemned the Maharashtra government’s anti-conversion law, stating that it violates the Constitution and infringes on the right of individuals to practice their religion freely. He emphasized that Islam does not permit forcing anyone to change their faith, and it is unjust to imprison those who choose to convert voluntarily. Pathan accused the government of attempting to divert attention from pressing issues facing the public.
He highlighted recent tragedies, including the death of three children in Amravati due to a fire, and criticized the government for its inaction on rising sugar prices while targeting the Muslim community with such laws. “The government is trying to distract us with these issues instead of addressing the real problems,” he asserted.
Pathan expressed his condolences for the victims of the recent floods in Nepal, stating, “Our hearts are heavy for those who have lost their homes and loved ones. We pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”
Regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, he mentioned that AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi would respond during the upcoming parliamentary session. He urged the Indian government to provide comprehensive aid to Nepal without politicizing the situation, stressing the need for a dedicated desk to assist families searching for missing relatives.
