Sydney, January 30: Australian batting stalwart Steve Smith has etched his name further into Test cricket’s history books by surpassing Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar and former Pakistan captain Younis Khan in the all-time highest run-scorers list in Test cricket.
Smith, who is leading Australia in the Test series against Sri Lanka, reached the 10,000-run milestone on January 29, becoming the 15th player in history to achieve this feat. A day later, he continued his dominance with the bat, overtaking Younis Khan (10,099 runs) and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122 runs) to climb further up the rankings.

The right-handed maestro played a sensational knock in the first Test against Sri Lanka, scoring 141 runs off 251 balls, which included 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. With his first run in the innings, he became a 10,000-run club member, while his century propelled him past Younis Khan.
