Bhopal, October 19 (Udaipur Kiran): A late-night fire broke out at the Central Bank of India branch on Marwari Road in Bhopal on Saturday, reportedly due to a short circuit. The incident caused damage to some documents, though all cash and critical assets are reported to be safe.

According to eyewitnesses, smoke was seen billowing from the bank premises around midnight. Passersby immediately alerted the police and fire department, following which multiple fire tenders from Joonani Safakhana and Fatehgarh stations were dispatched to the spot.
The fire-fighting operation was challenging as the narrow lanes of the old city’s market area made it difficult for the fire engines to reach the site. Local residents assisted firefighters by clearing parked vehicles and creating space for the emergency vehicles to access the branch.
Fire Officer Rajendra Batham said the blaze took nearly two hours to bring under control, and the flames were fully doused around 1:30 a.m. Initial reports indicate that an electrical short circuit triggered the fire.
Officials from the bank management have begun assessing the extent of damage. While some paper records were destroyed, no cash or valuables were affected, and no injuries were reported.
