Dhaka, October 19 (Udaipur Kiran): A massive fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon at the cargo village area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka was brought under control after nearly seven hours of continuous firefighting. Flight operations, which were suspended due to the incident, resumed late at night.
According to officials, the fire started around 2:15 p.m. and spread rapidly through the cargo facility, forcing authorities to halt all flight operations as thick black smoke covered the area. Several domestic flights were diverted to Chattogram as a precautionary measure.
Joint efforts by the Fire Service and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) eventually brought the blaze under control by late evening.
As reported by Prothom Alo, citing the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the fire was fully extinguished, and flight operations resumed at 9:30 p.m. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
The ministry confirmed that an official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and to recommend safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
