
Udaipur : Electric trains will soon be able to run between Udaipur and Dungarpur. The Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE) completed the inspection of the line on Tuesday.
The PCEE, Rakesh Mohan, and other officials left Udaipur at around 11:24 am on Wednesday in a self-propelled inspection carriage (SPIP). They closely inspected the line from Jaisamand to Dungarpur. They reached Dungarpur at 1:15 pm. The SPIP returned to Udaipur at 1:22 pm.
After that, the inspection of the 55-kilometer line from Dungarpur to Jaisamand began with an electric train. The electric train left Dungarpur at 8:45 pm and reached Jaisamand Road Station at 9:35 pm. The train covered the 55 kilometers in about 50 minutes during the inspection. DRM Rajiv Dhankad and other officials were present during the inspection.
Two divisions are working on the project: The work on the 210-kilometer line from Udaipur to Himmatnagar is being done by the North Western Railway Division. The 89-kilometer section from Himmatnagar to Asarwa is being done by the Western Railway.
The 45-kilometer section from Udaipur to Jaisamand has already been inspected in two phases. With the inspection of the 55-kilometer section from Jaisamand to Dungarpur, electric trains can now be taken from Udaipur to Dungarpur. The work from Udaipur to Ahmedabad is expected to be completed in March 2024.
