Udaipur : The Udaipur Bird Festival will begin today, January 11, with a bird race. The festival is being organized by the Forest Department to raise awareness about the conservation of birds and their habitats.
The bird race will feature five teams of five bird experts. The teams will visit wetlands in and around Udaipur, including Menar, Vallabhnagar, Kheroda, and Piladar. They will identify bird species and record them in a logbook. The team that records the most bird species will be declared the winner.
The bird race will begin at 6 am at the Forest Department office in Chetak Circle. The teams will return to the Field Club at 6 pm. The group leaders for the bird race are Devendra Mistry, Anil Rogers, Kanishk Kothari, Ujjwal Dadhich, and Darshan Menaria.
The Udaipur Bird Festival will continue through January 14. Other events during the festival include a photo exhibition, a wildlife quiz, and a nature literary festival.
