Eight Himachal Pradesh Officials Promoted to IAS Rank

Shimla, May 24 – The Central Government has promoted eight officers from the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HAS) to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The promotions have been made under the provisions of the IAS (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, and the officers have been inducted into the Himachal Pradesh cadre.

According to a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, these appointments fill the IAS vacancies that arose between January 1 and December 31, 2023.

List of Promoted Officers

The eight officers promoted to IAS include:

  • Dr. Madhu Chaudhary (DOB: October 29, 1978), currently serving as Registrar at the Agricultural University, Palampur.

  • Manoj Kumar-II (DOB: July 2, 1969), Managing Director of the Minority Finance and Development Corporation.

  • Prabha Rajeev (DOB: June 6, 1968), currently the Controller of Printing and Stationery.

  • Satish Kumar Sharma (DOB: August 22, 1967), Director of the Revenue Training Institute, Jogindernagar.

  • Ashish Kumar Kohli (DOB: October 24, 1967), presently posted as Director of School Education.

  • Jitendra Sanzta (DOB: December 8, 1983), Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission.

  • Virender Sharma (DOB: March 3, 1982), Labour Commissioner and Managing Director of the Electronics Corporation.

  • Himis Negi (DOB: December 10, 1976), serving as the Managing Director of the Natural Farming and Marketing Board.

Strengthening the State’s Administrative Cadre

This batch of promotions is expected to further strengthen the administrative framework of Himachal Pradesh, bringing in experienced officers who have served in key state roles. The inclusion of these seasoned officials into the IAS is likely to enhance policy execution, governance, and public service delivery across various departments.

The move also reflects the government’s commitment to recognizing the contribution of state service officers and providing them with career advancement through merit-based elevation to the national civil services.
