Udaipur : The renowned Eklingji Temple in Udaipur has implemented stricter regulations for visitors, including a dress code and a ban on mobile phones. The temple administration has prohibited entry for devotees wearing attire such as mini skirts, Bermudas, or night suits. Additionally, items like shoes, socks, leather wallets, belts, and bags are now restricted within the temple premises.
The use of mobile phones has also been completely banned, with the aim of preserving the sanctity of the temple and addressing recurring complaints from devotees.
Maintaining Sanctity and Discipline
The temple committee has urged visitors to uphold the dignity and sanctity of the temple by adhering to the new guidelines. The rules, introduced to foster discipline and devotion among worshippers, have been publicly displayed on notice boards outside the temple for the convenience of visitors.
The Shri Eklingji Trust, which oversees the temple, retains the exclusive right to grant or deny entry under these revised protocols.
Addressing Complaints from Devotees
The move comes in response to complaints regarding inappropriate attire by some devotees, particularly Gujarati and international tourists, who were reportedly arriving in casual clothing like Bermudas and other informal outfits. The temple trust, after receiving multiple objections, decided to act to ensure a decorous environment for worship.

This is not the first time a temple in Udaipur has introduced such measures. Previously, the Jagdish Temple in Udaipur also imposed a ban on short clothing, which sparked significant debate.
