New Delhi, 26 May : A massive fire broke out at the New Born Baby Care Center in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, late on Saturday (May 25) night. Six newborn babies died in the incident. Five have been rescued and shifted to another hospital.

A fire officer said that they received a call about the fire at 11:30 PM. A total of 16 fire tenders reached the spot and after a struggle of one and a half hours, the fire was brought under control. A total of 12 newborn babies were present in the baby care center at the time of the accident. One of these babies had already died.
Due to the fire, there was a lot of smoke inside the hospital, which made the condition of the other 11 babies serious. All were evacuated, but by then 6 children had died due to suffocation.
