Jaipur, January 8, 2025: A severe cold wave has gripped Rajasthan, with night temperatures plunging below 5°C in 13 cities. The city of Fatehpur recorded the lowest temperature at 1.1°C, marking it as the coldest night in the state. Mount Abu and Nagaur also witnessed a thin layer of ice forming on water surfaces, further intensifying the chill.
As per the Meteorological Department, the entire state is experiencing sub-zero temperatures during the night, with many cities seeing their lowest readings in years. Despite this, Barmer recorded the highest daytime temperature at 27.2°C, while Phalodi experienced the warmest night at 9°C.

Frost and Fog Impact
In addition to the intense cold, dense fog covered the Shekhawati and western Rajasthan regions, especially in the morning. Visibility dropped to a mere 20 to 50 meters, causing significant disruptions for commuters. As a result, many vehicle drivers had to rely on their headlights to navigate through the thick fog.
Weather Outlook
The cold wave is expected to persist, with 10th to 12th January witnessing a shift in weather patterns. A strong western disturbance will impact the region, bringing cloudy skies and the possibility of rain and thunderstorms in cities such as Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur. The weather department has predicted that northeastern Rajasthan may see some relief from the cold wave on 9th January, with a slight rise in temperatures.
