Jaipur : Rajasthan continues to reel under a severe cold wave as northern winds intensify the chill across the state. Except for Kota and Dholpur, all cities recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C, with Nagaur reporting the lowest at 2.5°C in the past 24 hours. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for cold wave conditions in eight districts for Wednesday, signaling no respite from the biting cold.

Cold Wave Alert in Eight Districts
The Jaipur Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for cold wave conditions in the districts of Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Nagaur, Alwar, Bharatpur, and Dausa. While the weather is expected to remain dry on January 9, north-eastern districts may see some relief from cold wave conditions. However, a western disturbance is likely to become active in north-western Rajasthan by the evening of January 10, bringing cloudy skies and light rain in parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions on January 10 and 11.
Minimum Temperatures Drop Across Rajasthan
The cold wave has caused a consistent drop in nighttime temperatures across the state. Notable minimum temperatures recorded include:
- Mount Abu: 5.2°C
- Fatehpur: 4.4°C
- Sirohi: 4.2°C
- Jodhpur: 6.5°C
- Jaisalmer: 6.6°C
- Jalore: 6.7°C
- Bikaner: 6.8°C
- Kota: 10°C
- Dholpur: 10.6°C
Nagaur recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 2.5°C, making it the coldest location in the state.
Daytime Relief in Parts of Rajasthan
Despite the chilly nights, residents of north-eastern Rajasthan experienced some relief during the day as clear skies and sunshine helped raise maximum temperatures. Notable temperature increases included:
- Ganganagar: Maximum temperature rose by 5.9°C to 21.2°C
- Alwar: Maximum temperature increased by 9.8°C to 24°C
- Barmer: Recorded the highest daytime temperature at 24.2°C
In Jaipur, the maximum temperature was recorded at 20.1°C, while other cities reported the following daytime highs:
- Sikar: 18°C
- Udaipur: 22°C
- Jodhpur: 22.2°C
- Jaisalmer: 22.5°C
- Ajmer: 20.3°C
- Bikaner: 21°C
Western Disturbance to Bring Rain on January 10-11
Weather experts have predicted that a western disturbance will become active over Rajasthan by January 10, resulting in cloud cover and possible rain in parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Ajmer divisions. Light rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected in these regions on January 10 and 11, which could bring temporary relief from the cold wave.
