Jammu, September 20 (Udaipur Kiran) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three individuals, including a Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer (SDAO) and an Agricultural Extension Assistant (AEA), in connection with a bribery case in Jammu-Kashmir. The arrests were made following a complaint regarding the alleged demand for a bribe of ₹35,000 for releasing subsidies under the Holistic Agricultural Development Programme (HADP).
On September 19, 2026, the CBI registered a case against the accused. Reports indicate that the SDAO instructed the complainant to pay the bribe either to the AEA or to a private individual. The CBI set up a sting operation, capturing the AEA and the private individual accepting ₹15,000 in bribes from the complainant. Subsequently, the SDAO was also arrested at his residence.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing. In a related incident, the Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector and a member of the Gujarat Defense Force in Rajkot for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 while handling a case at the Aji Dam police station. The accused, identified as 53-year-old Rajeshbhai Mer and 31-year-old Manojbhai Chauhan, reportedly demanded the bribe to expedite the bail process for a complainant. The complainant, unwilling to pay, reported the incident to the ACB’s toll-free number.
