New Delhi, September 20 (Udaipur Kiran) : Senior journalist Payal Mehta’s sudden demise has prompted an outpouring of grief from prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Education Minister Pralhad Joshi.
Mehta, who was on a trip to Mumbai, experienced discomfort and was taken to the hospital around 2 a.m. on Saturday night. Unfortunately, she passed away before treatment could commence.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his sorrow on social media, stating, “Payal Mehta was a dedicated journalist who remained grounded and brought a deep understanding of national issues to her reporting. Beyond her work, she will be remembered for the kindness and affection she showed to many. Her sudden and untimely death is deeply tragic. My condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. May God give them strength during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also shared his condolences, saying, “I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the untimely demise of journalist Payal Mehta. She left us too soon. Payal was an extremely hardworking and dedicated journalist who covered parliamentary proceedings with utmost integrity and professionalism, often staying from early morning until late at night to monitor the sessions.”
Education Minister Pralhad Joshi remembered Mehta for her calm demeanor and insightful questions, saying, “Her contributions to journalism will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. May God give them strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.”
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his sorrow as well, highlighting Mehta’s exemplary dedication to reporting. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his shock, recalling her vibrant personality and the energy she brought to her work, while Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu remembered her enthusiasm and commitment to journalism.
