Beijing, May 1: The sixth Asian Beach Games concluded on the evening of April 30 in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The Chinese sports delegation topped both the gold medal and overall medal tally, securing 24 gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
A total of 171 athletes represented China in 13 sports and 60 events during these Asian Beach Games. Their performance marked the best in the history of the event, with the delegation achieving significant accomplishments in newly added competitions.
Yang Xin, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese sports delegation, stated that the results reflect the growing strength of the delegation. He noted that the layout of the competitions was more balanced, and young athletes delivered outstanding performances, leading to a significant boost in China’s overall strength in beach sports.
The Chinese team excelled in four events: women’s shot put, men’s 5 km open water swimming, mixed relay (swimming and running), and women’s 100-meter dragon boat race. In speed climbing, Chinese athletes broke world records four times in men’s individual, men’s relay, and women’s relay categories.
