Aakash Coaching Student Found Dead in Kota Hostel

Kota, October 26 (Udaipur Kiran) — The tragic trend of student deaths in Rajasthan’s coaching hub Kota continues, as a 24-year-old NEET aspirant from Odisha was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his hostel room on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place in the Jawahar Nagar police station area.

Aakash Coaching

The deceased has been identified as Roshan Kumar Yadav (24), son of Radheshyam Yadav, a resident of Abhayapur village in Ganjam district, Odisha. He had arrived in Kota around six months ago and was preparing for the NEET examination while staying with his cousin Yuvraj at Yuva Heights Hostel, located on the fourth floor of a residential building in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar.

Found Unconscious on Bed

According to ASI Jawahar Singh, police received information around 3 PM that a coaching student was lying unconscious in his room at Yuva Hostel. Roshan was rushed to MBS Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The body has been kept at the hospital mortuary, and police have informed the family in Odisha. The post-mortem will be conducted on Sunday after the family’s arrival.

Room Was Locked from Inside

Roshan’s cousin Yuvraj told police that around midnight, both had been studying together before going to bed. The next morning at 10 AM, he tried to wake Roshan for breakfast but found the room locked from inside. Assuming he was asleep, Yuvraj left for coaching after informing Roshan’s parents by phone.

When he returned around 1:30 PM, he again knocked but got no response. Using a spare key, he opened the door and found Roshan lying unconscious on the bed, with vomit nearby, suggesting possible poisoning or illness.

Investigation Underway

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Medical Officer (MO) teams inspected the scene to determine the cause of death. Police said no suicide note has been recovered yet, and the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report.

The hostel reportedly houses 40 to 50 students, most of whom are preparing for competitive exams. The incident has once again raised concerns over the recurring deaths of coaching students in Kota, despite preventive measures announced by authorities earlier this year.
