5 Soldiers injured after Terrorists open fire on two security vehicles in J&K

New Delhi: Five Indian Air Force personnel were injured on Saturday when terrorists opened fire on two Indian Air Force vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

The incident took place near Sashidar when the vehicles entered the Sanai Top area of ​​Surenkot district.

“An Indian Air Force convoy was attacked by militants near Shahidar in Poonch district of Jhandke province. Currently, local army units are conducting cordon and search operations in this area. The convoy has been detained and investigations are continuing.”

“Five soldiers were injured, two of them are in critical condition. The injured were shifted to the command hospital in Udhampur for further treatment,” the authorities said.

This came three weeks before the Anantnag-Rajori Lok Sabha constituency elections. Poonch falls under the Anantnag-Rajori parliamentary constituency, where the sixth phase of elections will be held on May 25.

The vehicles were headed to Sanai Top area in the district’s Surenkot area and are believed to be the same terrorist group that ambushed troops in the neighboring Buflias area on December 21 last year. Others were injured.
