3 more bodies found at Maharashtra chemical plant, toll rises to 11, 64 injured

Mumbai : Three more bodies have been recovered by the NDRF team in the Dombivli chemical plant accident on Friday, raising the death toll to 11. The 64 injured in the incident are being treated at various hospitals in Dombivli. The police have registered a case against Amandan Chemical Company owners Malay Pradeep Mehta and Malti Pradeep Mehta. The NDRF team is still searching for the bodies of missing workers along with cooling.

Three explosions followed by a fire broke out in the Amandan company in the MIDC area of Dombivli on Thursday afternoon. The fire engulfed three nearby companies and a nearby Hyundai showroom was also gutted. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the site late on Thursday and ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. He also announced Rs 5 lakh each to the dependents of the dead and free treatment to the injured.

The Chief Minister said that after the code of conduct, all the company factories here will be shifted to Ambernath MIDC. NDRF team and fire brigade personnel controlled the fire late at night at the scene. Cooling work is going on at the spot since night. Three more bodies were recovered this morning. Because of this, cooling work is going on at the spot very carefully.
