Ayodhya, August 31: Samajwadi Party MP Avadhesh Prasad has raised questions regarding the encounter of two main shooters involved in the murder case of Haryanvi singer and actor Ankit Baliyan, demanding a high-level investigation into the matter. He emphasized that the circumstances under which the police conducted the encounter should be thoroughly examined.
Speaking to a news agency, Prasad stated that under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), there are provisions for punishment ranging from life imprisonment to the death penalty for individuals found guilty of serious crimes. He insisted that a fair and high-level inquiry should be conducted to ascertain the conditions surrounding the encounter.
It is noteworthy that the Uttar Pradesh police shot dead the two shooters, Sumit and Mohit, on Monday morning during an encounter. Shamli SP Narendra Pratap Singh reported that the shooters were fleeing from Shamli towards Sonipat (Haryana) on a motorcycle. Acting on a tip-off, the police surrounded them, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which both shooters were killed.
Prasad also addressed the situation of youth in the country and the constitutional rights of citizens. He asserted that before aspiring to be a global leader, the rights and constitutional entitlements of all respected citizens must be ensured. He described the youth as the country’s greatest asset, highlighting that they are currently facing the most challenges. He stated that a nation’s true wealth lies not in gold, silver, or diamonds, but in its people, especially the youth.
Furthermore, he appealed to the Indian government to adopt a humanitarian approach in response to the devastation caused by sudden floods in Nepal. He urged for a rescue and relief operation to locate and safely bring back hundreds of Indian citizens who are stranded or missing in Nepal.
In response to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statements on Hindu-Muslim unity during the ‘One World, One Humanity’ program, Prasad remarked that the rights and dignity of all citizens are clearly ensured in the Constitution and its preamble, as drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
