Mumbai, August 10 (Udaipur Kiran) – Western Railway is continuously working to promote cashless transactions. They want to make services smoother and more efficient for their passengers. As part of this effort, they have installed 632 dynamic QR code devices in the Mumbai Central Division. These devices started working on July 25, 2024. By August 7, 2024, nearly 7 lakh passengers used them to buy over 31,000 tickets. Over 76 lakh digital payments were made using these QR codes.
According to a press release by Vineet Abhishek, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, these QR code devices show the amount to be paid on the screen. Passengers can use different online payment methods and apps to pay for their tickets. This new system is expected to make transactions faster, reduce waiting time, and improve overall customer satisfaction. These QR code devices are working well at all UTS counters in the Mumbai Central Division, covering both suburban and non-suburban areas. However, the installation of these devices at PRS counters is still in progress.
