Udaipur, June 5 (Udaipur Kiran): Around 150 villagers and youths from Bhatewar submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Officer of Vallabhnagar on Friday, demanding strict action over alleged illegal soil mining on government pasture and pond land. Gaurav Nagda of Samar Smriti Foundation also filed a complaint at Vallabhnagar Police Station seeking registration of an FIR, seizure of machinery and an impartial investigation.

According to the complaint, large-scale soil excavation has allegedly been taking place since May 5, 2026, on government land recorded as “Jorji Ka Kheda Talab” in Bhatewar village. The complainants alleged that soil was excavated and transported using dumpers and JCB machines without the required permissions, mining lease or environmental clearances.
Based on photographs, videos and GPS records, the complainants claimed that more than 1.5 lakh tonnes of soil had been illegally excavated. They alleged that the excavated soil was dumped on another parcel of land and sought an investigation into the role of all persons allegedly involved in the case.
Nagda stated that complaints had already been submitted to the Mines Department and police, but no FIR had been registered so far. The complainants expressed concern that delays in action could affect evidence and the investigation.
The memorandum demanded a high-level inquiry, restoration of the damaged pasture and pond land, assessment of royalty, penalties and environmental compensation, and recovery of dues. Complainants estimated the potential liability at more than Rs 1.5 crore, subject to official verification.
Villagers also sought protection for complainants and witnesses and warned of a larger public agitation if prompt action is not taken. They demanded registration of a named FIR, seizure of machinery allegedly used in the mining activity and strict legal action against those found responsible.
