Udaipur, May 5, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): A meeting of the Kalika Patrolling Unit was held at the Collectorate auditorium in Udaipur under the joint initiative of Udaipur Range Police and UNICEF Rajasthan as part of the “Policing for Care of Children” programme. The meeting aimed to share experiences and encourage teams working in the field of child safety.

UNICEF India Country Head Cynthia McCaffrey attended the meeting along with District Superintendent of Police Dr Amrita Duhan. Appreciating the efforts of the Kalika Patrolling Unit, McCaffrey said, “If you are there, we all feel safe.” She highlighted that the team plays a crucial role in ensuring safety at public places, schools, colleges, and crowded areas.
She also praised the self-defence training programmes conducted in schools, stating that these initiatives have boosted confidence among children, enabling them to participate fearlessly in education and other activities. She termed the team’s role among the public as reliable and commendable.
Addressing the gathering, SP Dr Amrita Duhan said that child protection is a moral responsibility of everyone and requires active participation from the community, police administration, and social organisations. She noted that the Kalika Patrolling Team is playing an important role in ensuring child safety at the grassroots level with sensitivity.
She further stated that Udaipur, being a tourist city, requires special attention to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors. She urged UNICEF to provide advanced technological resources to make the functioning of the team more effective.
UNICEF Rajasthan State Head K.L. Narasimha Rao said that the special police unit is doing commendable work in ensuring safety and empowering children, making it a model example of community policing. Child protection expert Dr Sanjay Kumar Nirala highlighted the structure and functioning of the Kalika Patrolling Unit in Rajasthan and stressed the importance of timely intervention and continuous training.
State Child Protection Advisor Sidhu Binujeet discussed strategies to strengthen the child protection mechanism and emphasised coordination among departments to ensure a safe environment for children. Representatives from the Kalika Patrolling Team and Tourist Patrolling Team also shared their experiences during the programme.
Earlier in the day, dignitaries interacted with students at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Badgaon. Officials shared information about safety and awareness programmes conducted in schools. Students actively participated, asked questions, and shared their experiences from self-defence training sessions.
During the interaction, a student named Anamika presented sketches of Cynthia McCaffrey and K.L. Narasimha Rao, which were appreciated by the guests. The programme began with a welcome address by Principal Geeta Sharma, while Vice Principal Neha Kudal coordinated the event and highlighted the school’s achievements.
