PATNA, March 23, 2025 – In a heartbreaking road accident early Sunday morning, four people lost their lives, including two brothers, when a Scorpio SUV returning from a wedding procession crashed into a highway divider and overturned on National Highway-31 near Khatoopur Chowk in Begusarai district, Bihar. The accident also left five others critically injured.
High-Speed Crash Turns Fatal
According to police and eyewitness accounts, the Scorpio was returning from a wedding in New Jafar Nagar under the Sahebpur Kamal police station area when the driver lost control at high speed, slamming into the road divider. The impact was so severe that the vehicle flipped and overturned on the highway, resulting in total structural damage and immediate fatalities.
The wedding was of Abhishek Kumar, son of Chandan Mahato from Paharpur village in Mufassil police station area. The baraat had just concluded when tragedy struck on the return journey.

Thanks to the quick response of local residents, all five injured individuals were rushed to Sadar Hospital in Begusarai, where they are currently undergoing treatment. The condition of at least two victims is reported to be critical, and additional medical support has been mobilized.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident. Initial findings indicate that reckless driving and overspeeding were the primary causes. The SUV reportedly smashed through the divider, flipped, and skidded across the highway before coming to a halt.
