Chandigarh, October 6 (Udaipur Kiran): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has begun an investigation into alleged corruption in the office of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. On Tuesday evening, CBI teams conducted searches at several locations, including the Chief Minister’s camp office in Chandigarh.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has openly opposed the action. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is also investigating the alleged corruption case, has summoned Mann’s brother-in-law for questioning.

CBI Searches Multiple Locations
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had on Monday directed the CBI to investigate alleged corruption in the Chief Minister’s Office. Following the court order, the CBI and ED became active on Tuesday.
CBI teams searched the Chief Minister’s camp office in Chandigarh and also reached Mohali and Sangrur. In Sangrur, searches were conducted at the residence of Mann’s brother-in-law Rajbir Singh Ghumman, while another team searched the residence of his brother in Mohali.
Searches at several locations continued until late Tuesday night.
Punjab Government’s Plea Rejected by Supreme Court
The Punjab government had approached the Supreme Court seeking an urgent hearing to challenge the High Court’s decision. The Supreme Court rejected the plea later in the afternoon, following which the CBI proceeded with the searches.
Meanwhile, the ED summoned AmarDeep Singh Grewal, brother-in-law of Mann’s wife Dr Gurpreet Kaur, for questioning in connection with the high-profile rape case in Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann Opposes CBI Action
After the CBI searches, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann posted on social media platform X, alleging that the BJP had started preparations for the Punjab elections.
Mann alleged that the CBI search at his camp office was part of an attempt to defame the Punjab government and him and claimed that the ED and CBI would be misused in Punjab.
He also alleged that the BJP was worried about the support and affection he was receiving from people.
