New Delhi, May 5: India condemned the recent attacks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called for an immediate cessation of attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. The UAE has attributed these attacks to Iran.
On Monday, three Indians were injured in the attacks in Fujairah. The MEA stated, “The attack on Fujairah, which injured three Indian nationals, is unacceptable. We demand an immediate halt to this hostility and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians.”
The MEA also emphasized the need for free and unobstructed navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with international law. India expressed its readiness to support all efforts for peaceful resolution of issues.
The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed that three Indian citizens were injured in the attacks and stated that they are in contact with local authorities to ensure proper medical care and well-being for the affected individuals.
Meanwhile, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Iran’s unprovoked new attacks using missiles and drones. The ministry confirmed that the injuries to the three Indian nationals were a direct result of Iran’s attacks on public places and facilities.
The ministry described Iran’s actions as a wrongful act of aggression and a direct threat to the security, stability, and unity of the UAE. It stated that these attacks violate international law principles and the United Nations Charter.
The UAE’s ministry stressed that the country will not tolerate any threats to its security and sovereignty under any circumstances. It retains the full and legal right to respond to these unprovoked attacks in a manner that ensures its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors.
The statement highlighted the urgent need to stop these attacks immediately and ensure complete adherence to ending all hostilities, holding Iran fully responsible for these unprovoked attacks and their consequences.
