New Facility Center Launched in Dahisar to Enhance Living Conditions

Mumbai, June 8: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated a new ‘Facility Center’ in the Dahisar area of Mumbai. This center aims to provide better sanitation and basic amenities for residents of slum areas. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of improving the quality of life for every citizen, making it more convenient and dignified.

During the inauguration ceremony, Piyush Goyal emphasized that Prime Minister Modi is committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to better facilities, leading to an easier life and respect within society. He stated that toilets are not just a convenience but are linked to people’s dignity and respect. With this mindset, sanitation has been made a crucial part of the country’s development journey.

Goyal noted that people living in slum areas do not choose to reside there by preference but are forced into such conditions due to circumstances and constraints. He expressed a desire for every slum dweller to have a permanent and dignified home through slum redevelopment schemes. However, until this goal is fully achieved, it is essential to provide better basic facilities to these individuals.

He mentioned that a significant campaign has been launched in North Mumbai in collaboration with Hindustan Unilever, HSBC, JSW, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to develop such facility centers in various parts of the city. The center inaugurated in Dahisar is the first in North Mumbai and the 25th facility center under this initiative across the country.

Piyush Goyal revealed plans to establish 100 more facility centers in the next three years, which will be operated with the participation of local women, providing them with employment and opportunities for self-reliance.

These facility centers will offer modern toilets, laundry services, and clean drinking water at just one rupee per liter. The initiative will also promote water conservation through recycling and the use of modern technology.

The Union Minister expressed confidence that this initiative will bring about significant positive changes in the lives of millions living in slum areas and will be a vital step towards making Mumbai a cleaner, more convenient, and inclusive city.
