Beijing, June 7: On June 6, various departments in China initiated a special maritime enforcement operation in the eastern waters of Taiwan Island. The aim of this operation is to fully exercise the country’s maritime administrative authority.
The operation also seeks to enhance patrol enforcement in deep seas and strengthen traffic control capabilities in key water areas, ensuring maritime traffic safety and protecting national interests.
This action comes in response to Japan and the Philippines unilaterally announcing the commencement of “maritime boundary division talks” concerning Taiwan’s eastern waters, which China views as a serious violation of its regional sovereignty and maritime rights.
