JAIPUR, June 7 (Udaipur Kiran) : Mobile internet services have been suspended for 24 hours in several police station areas of Jaipur to maintain law and order during a proposed encroachment removal drive.
According to letter number PUAJ/2026/16765 dated June 7, 2026, issued by the Police Commissioner, Jaipur, the Jaipur Development Authority has proposed a large-scale encroachment removal operation from June 8, 2026. Authorities expressed concerns that protests by various organizations, damage to public property, and the circulation of comments, videos, and photographs on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and WhatsApp could disturb communal harmony and affect law and order.
In view of these concerns, a request was made to impose restrictions on internet services from 12:00 midnight on June 7, 2026, until 12:00 midnight on June 8, 2026.
According to an order issued by Divisional Commissioner V. Saravan Kumar, 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile internet data services have been suspended in the Jaipur Police Commissionerate area, including the police station jurisdictions of Ramganj, Galta Gate, Manak Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Amer, Brahmpuri, Nahargarh, Kotwali, Jalupura, Sanjay Circle, Shastri Nagar, Bhatta Basti, Vidhyadhar Nagar, and Jaisinghpura Khor under Jaipur North district.
The restrictions also apply to the police station areas of Bassi, Kanota, Tunga, Adarsh Nagar, Transport Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Jamdoli, SMS Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Lalkothi, Moti Doongri, Airport Jaipur, Malviya Nagar, Jawahar Circle, Bajaj Nagar, Kho-Nagoriyan, Sanganer, Pratap Nagar, Ramnagariya, and Malpura Gate under Jaipur East district.
The order states that the area surrounding the Rajasthan International Centre at Jhalana Doongri, Jaipur, has been exempted from the restrictions.
The action has been taken under the Government of India’s Ministry of Communications notification, “Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017,” and the powers granted by the Rajasthan Government.
During the restriction period, Mobile Internet, Bulk SMS, MMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter (X), and other social media services will remain suspended, while voice call services will continue to operate normally.
The Divisional Commissioner has directed all citizens to comply with the order and avoid any violation. The order further states that legal action will be taken against those found violating the restrictions.
