According to reports, other boating staff members and people were present at the spot, but no attempt was made to rescue him.

After receiving information about the incident, a Civil Defence team reached the location and recovered the body from beneath the jetty within 15 minutes. The body was then handed over to Ambamata police station personnel.

The deceased was identified as Sarvaiya Vinodbhai (66), a resident of Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Police shifted the body to the MB Hospital mortuary and informed the family members.

According to sources, Civil Defence member Kailash Menaria said that shortly before the incident, he had received a phone call from a tourist from Gujarat. The caller allegedly told him that an expensive mobile phone had fallen into the lake and offered Rs 20,000 for its recovery.

Menaria stated that about 20 minutes after the call ended, information was received that a person had drowned while searching for a mobile phone in the lake. He said he then believed that the same tourist may have induced the boat operator to enter the lake in search of the mobile phone. Menaria added that by the time the team reached the spot, the tourist had already left.
