Sunrisers Hyderabad becomes 5th team to play most IPL finals

Chennai : Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has become the fifth team in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to play the most number of final matches. Hyderabad achieved this feat after defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 36 runs in IPL 2024 Qualifier 2.

The Hyderabad-based franchise entered the tournament final for the third time. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has also made it to the final of the tournament three times.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has played the IPL final a record 10 times. Mumbai Indians (MI) is second with six final appearances. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is third after playing four finals of the T20 tournament.

Talking about the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first after losing the toss, scored 175 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

The highest run-scorer for the team was their wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 50 runs with the help of four sixes in 34 balls. Rahul Tripathi (37) and Travis Head (32) also made valuable contributions from their side.

For Rajasthan Royals, Boult and Avesh took three wickets each in their four-over spell, conceding 45 and 27 runs respectively. Sandeep took two wickets for 25 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Rajasthan could only manage 139 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. For Rajasthan, Dhruv Jurel scored a brilliant half-century and scored 56 runs, besides Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 42 runs. For Hyderabad, Shahbaz Ahmed took 3, Abhishek Sharma took 2 and Pat Cummins and T Natarajan took 1-1 wickets.
