Realme Developing 300W Fast-Charging Technology, Top Executive Confirms

The Realme GT Neo 5 was released last February with 240W fast charging support. This fast charging technology is said to charge the battery from zero to 100 percent in less than 10 minutes. The Chinese tech brand is now moving forward with new charging technology. A senior Realme executive has confirmed that they are working on 300W charging for future smartphone models. The company’s main competitor, Xiaomi, introduced 300 W fast charging technology last year.

In an interview with The TechChap YouTube channel, Realme Europe CEO and Global Marketing Director Francis Wong confirmed that Realme is testing 300W charging. The latest move will help the brand compete with companies like Xiaomi that are working on similar fast charging technology.

Last February, Redmi already introduced 300W charging on a modified Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition smartphone with a 4100mAh battery. With this charging technology, the battery can be charged in less than five minutes. The company has not yet launched a mobile phone that supports 300 W fast charging.

Realme now offers 240W charging for the Realme GT Neo 5, which charges the 4,600 mAh battery from zero to 20 percent in 80 seconds, from zero to 50 percent in four minutes, and from zero to 100 in less than 10 minutes up. A 30-second charging time allows up to two hours of talk time.

The Realme GT Neo 5 was launched at a starting price of 3,199 Yuan (roughly Rs. 39,000). It has a 6.74-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Other specifications of the phone include a triple rear camera with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel selfie camera and 1TB of internal storage.
