Cricket Regulator Accuses Brydon Carse of Damaging Games Image

England fast bowler Brydon Carse faces charges from cricket regulators for damaging the sports reputation following a late-night incident in Derby.

London, October 2 (Udaipur Kiran) : England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been accused by cricket regulators of damaging the image of the sport following an incident that occurred in Derby in late August. The 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly while out with teammates from his county team, Durham, on the morning of August 23. He was later released.

A video surfaced on social media showing Carse in handcuffs, prompting an investigation by Derbyshire police into an alleged assault that took place that night. However, the investigation was closed last month without any charges being filed.

The domestic governing body for the sport has now charged Carse with violating the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Professional Conduct Regulation 3.2. In a statement released on Friday, the regulator noted, “The case will now be referred to an independent cricket disciplinary panel for a decision. No further comments will be made while the process is ongoing.”

Regulation 3.2 states that “no participant may conduct themselves in a manner that is improper or detrimental to the interests of cricket or brings the ECB, the game of cricket, or any cricketer or group of cricketers into disrepute.”

Following the incident, Carse was immediately dropped from the England team for the second Test against Pakistan and has not played any international matches since. His last appearance for England was in January during the final Test of the Ashes series against Australia. After being sidelined due to injury at the start of the English summer season, Carse made a strong comeback, playing a crucial role in helping Durham secure promotion in Division One of the County Championship, where the team remained unbeaten throughout the season.

Carse’s troubles intensified on Thursday when he was not included in the England squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series in Pakistan. Discussing Carse’s situation last month, England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook remarked that Carse needs to take some time away from international cricket. Brook stated, “Carse is a very good friend of mine. I’ve talked to him a lot. I think he needs some time away from international cricket. He’s working through some personal and professional issues behind the scenes. Hopefully, he will be ready to play again in the future.”
