Jaipur, January 2 : The biting cold in Rajasthan has slightly abated as the weakening cold wave and sunny afternoons brought relief to the residents. Cities like Jaipur, Sikar, Alwar, and Mount Abu recorded an increase in maximum temperatures by 4 to 8 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, similar weather conditions are expected to persist across the state until January 6, with temperatures likely to rise by another 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Dense Fog Disrupts Life in Many Areas
Despite the temperature rise, dense fog continued to impact several regions on Thursday morning. Alwar experienced heavy fog until 8 a.m., reducing visibility to 40 meters, causing considerable inconvenience to residents. Sriganganagar also grappled with thick fog, where visibility dropped below 40 meters, severely affecting road traffic. The minimum temperature in the area was recorded at 5.1 degrees Celsius.
In Bharatpur, the fog was particularly intense, limiting visibility to just 20 meters. National Highway commuters faced significant challenges, while pedestrians struggled to navigate through the dense mist. Many locals turned to bonfires to combat the cold. Similarly, in Jhunjhunu, dense fog caused a sharp decline in visibility, disrupting daily life.
Warmer Conditions in Western Rajasthan
Contrastingly, parts of western Rajasthan enjoyed relatively warmer weather. Barmer recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours. Other regions also saw milder conditions, with Jodhpur at 26.3 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer at 24.6 degrees Celsius, Sirohi at 24.5 degrees Celsius, and Mount Abu at 22.8 degrees Celsius. The cold wave effect has almost dissipated in these areas.
Coldest Day of the Season in Hanumangarh
Hanumangarh experienced its coldest day of the season on Wednesday, with a maximum temperature of just 11.1 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Kota and Baran remained chilly due to dense fog, with maximum temperatures at 13.7 and 12.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Yellow Alert for Fog Issued
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in districts such as Ganganagar, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Nagaur, Alwar, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Dausa, Kota, Baran, Bundi, and Chittorgarh. Morning fog is expected to disrupt transportation in these areas. Additionally, a warning for dense fog and cold waves has been issued for Jaipur, Churu, Bikaner, and Ganganagar over the next 24 hours.
