Balotra (Rajasthan), October 16 (Udaipur Kiran): A tragic road accident in Sada village under the Sindhari police station area of Balotra district claimed the lives of four friends, while another sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM on Wednesday night when a Scorpio SUV collided head-on with a trailer truck on the Mega Highway, causing both vehicles to catch fire.

According to eyewitnesses, locals rushed to rescue the victims trapped inside the burning Scorpio but were unable to save them. The intense flames engulfed the vehicle completely, and traffic on the highway remained disrupted for nearly an hour. The situation was brought under control after police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and cleared the road.
Police said the victims, all residents of Dabard village in Gudamalani (Barmer district), were returning home after completing some work in Sindhari when the accident occurred—just 30 kilometres before reaching their village.

The Scorpio driver, Dilip Singh, was critically injured and sustained severe burns. He was initially rushed to the Sindhari Community Health Centre, and later referred to Jodhpur for advanced treatment due to his critical condition.
Eyewitnesses reported that the trailer driver risked his own life to pull Dilip Singh out of the burning vehicle, saving him moments before the flames intensified.
Following the accident, senior administrative and police officials including District Collector Sushil Kumar Yadav, Superintendent of Police Ramesh, Additional District Collector Bhuvneshwar Singh Chauhan, Deputy Neeraj Sharma, Sub-Divisional Officer Samandar Singh Bhati, and Chief District Medical Officer Vakararam Chaudhary, along with the Transport Department team, reached the spot to assess the situation.
Fire brigade units from RGT Company and the Municipal Council battled the blaze for hours before successfully extinguishing it.
