
Udaipur, October 6 (Udaipur Kiran): A special campaign is being conducted in Udaipur district from October 5 to 7 to protect consumer interests and ensure transparency in the prescribed quantity and prices of packaged commodities.
The campaign is being conducted under the directions of the Consumer Affairs Department. As part of the drive, surprise inspections were carried out at establishments and grocery stores to check compliance with the provisions of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the Rajasthan Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
Seven Establishments Inspected
During the campaign, Batliwala & Sons, Rajasthan Food Bakery, BMB, Mukesh Kirana Store, Jai Misthan Bhandar, Gurukripa Namkeen Bhandar and JMB Bakers were inspected.
A total fine of ₹10,000 was imposed during the campaign. Net content checking of the packaged products was found to be correct during the inspections.
Instructions on Packaging and Weighing Equipment
Legal Metrology Officer Rakesh Maheshwari directed the establishments to obtain packaging licences, ensure that all required information is printed on packaged products and get weighing scales and weights verified as per the prescribed requirements.
