It was revealed two months ago, in December, that he was being held in the Polar Wolf prison. He had been missing for a considerable time before that. The temperature in the Arctic prison where he was being held can drop as low as -28 degrees Celsius. His lawyer claimed that he was sent to the Arctic prison to keep him away from the elections.
Navalny was attacked in 2017. He suffered a serious eye injury in the attack. In 2018, he tried to run for president, but was unable to do so due to fraud charges. Navalny had called it a government conspiracy. In July 2019, Navalny was sentenced to one month in prison after announcing a major protest.
