Plot to Derail Kalindi Express Using Gas Cylinder on Railway Track in Kanpur

Kanpur, 09 September (Udaipur Kiran) – A dangerous plot to derail the Kalindi Express was foiled on the Kanpur-Farrukhabad railway track late Sunday night. A gas cylinder and other suspicious objects were placed on the tracks. The Kalindi Express, which was en route to Bhiwani, collided with the gas cylinder. Thankfully, the cylinder did not explode and was thrown away from the tracks, preventing a major accident. Had the train derailed, it could have resulted in significant loss of life and property.

The Kalindi Express was heading towards Bhiwani via Kanpur Central and Anwarganj stations. As the train neared Shivrajpur Railway Station, a loud noise was heard. Due to the high speed, the driver did not apply the emergency brakes, but upon reaching Shivrajpur Station, he reported the incident, stating that the train had hit a metallic object.

RPF Inspector OP Meena rushed to the spot and found suspicious items on the tracks and the gas cylinder lying nearby, still filled with gas but intact. Upon realizing the severity of the situation, the inspector concluded that there had been a deliberate attempt to derail the train. Rajendra Singh, the PRO of Izzatnagar North Eastern Railway Division, confirmed the attempt to derail the train and said an investigation is underway. Security on the railway tracks has been increased as a precautionary measure.
