Udaipur, March 21 – Rajasthan has issued more than 2.23 crore Ayushman cards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), providing crucial healthcare benefits to millions across the state. This significant update was shared in the Lok Sabha in response to an unstarred question raised by Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat.
The information was presented by Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, who highlighted the scheme’s district-wise impact across Rajasthan, including the number of beneficiaries and expenditure incurred under the initiative.

Udaipur Parliamentary Constituency Records High Utilization
In the Udaipur parliamentary region alone, the benefits of Ayushman Bharat are clearly visible:
- Udaipur district: Over 2.67 lakh hospitalizations covered under the scheme with an expenditure of ₹253.11 crore.
- Salumbar district: 12,236 patients received treatment costing ₹14.13 crore.
- Pratapgarh district: 76,293 patients were treated under the scheme at a total cost of ₹60.16 crore.
These numbers underscore the scheme’s direct role in reducing the financial burden of healthcare for economically weaker sections.
District-wise Ayushman Card Issuance in Udaipur Region
- Udaipur district: 8,75,894 cards issued
- Salumbar district: 2,57,030 cards issued
- Pratapgarh district: 3,48,320 cards issued
This brings the total number of cardholders in the Udaipur parliamentary constituency to well over 14 lakh.
Rajasthan’s Statewide Progress
As of March 18, 2025, India has generated over 36.86 crore Ayushman cards under AB-PMJAY. Rajasthan accounts for 2.23 crore cards, placing it among the top states in terms of implementation and outreach.
Under this scheme, beneficiaries are eligible for cashless health insurance coverage up to ₹5 lakh per family per year, covering hospitalization costs for serious illnesses, surgeries, and other treatments.
Strengthening Health Access in Rural and Tribal Areas
The extensive coverage in tribal and rural districts like Salumbar and Pratapgarh is a testament to the government’s efforts in bridging the healthcare gap for underserved communities. By ensuring access to quality and affordable treatment, Ayushman Bharat is playing a pivotal role in transforming public healthcare in Rajasthan.
The state health department continues to work on card distribution, awareness drives, and empaneling more hospitals to make healthcare even more accessible to remote and economically backward populations.
