New Delhi, May 18: In the capital, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest regarding the NEET paper leak. The organization is demanding a ban on the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Protesters expressed their concerns, stating that incidents of paper leaks occur every year, affecting millions of students. They highlighted that students prepare for a year, only to find out that the paper has been leaked, leading some to take drastic steps, including suicide. The protesters reiterated their demands for NTA to be banned and for Pradhan to resign.
One protester pointed out that their two main demands are the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan and a ban on the NTA, citing multiple incidents of paper leaks in 2021, 2024, and now in 2026. They questioned how a beautician was able to facilitate such a significant leak within the system and called for the arrest of the main culprits behind the leaks. They also mentioned that four students have taken their lives due to this issue, urging Pradhan to resign on moral grounds, and suggested that the Prime Minister should dismiss him from the Cabinet.
Another individual questioned Pradhan, asking who would answer for the hard work lost and the shattered dreams of students. They expressed concern about the integrity of the examination process, stating that if papers are sold in the market, it undermines the dreams of honest students.
In Uttar Pradesh’s Basti, NSUI workers protested in a unique manner by distributing ‘jhalmuri’ (a type of snack) to highlight the ongoing issue of NEET paper leaks, noting that there have been 89 leaks in the past decade. They lamented the tragic consequences of these leaks, including student suicides.
Samajwadi Party leader Ashutosh Verma remarked that the youth of the country are questioning who will take responsibility for ruining students’ futures in one fell swoop.
