Udaipur : A court in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on Thursday granted default bail to a notorious criminal, Vishnu alias Mukesh alias Kakdi, in a narcotics case. The court also ordered action against the Ambamata police station officer, Dr. Hanuwant Singh, for not filing the charge sheet within the stipulated 60 days.
Vishnu was arrested on October 25, 2023, with 2.22 kilograms of marijuana. The police had 60 days to file the charge sheet against him, but they failed to do so.
The prosecution opposed the bail application, arguing that the accused should be denied bail due to the seriousness of the offense. The accused has 26 criminal cases registered against him.
The charge sheet was filed by the Ambamata police station on January 10, 2024, after the bail application was filed. The police said that they could not file the charge sheet earlier because they were still investigating the case.
The accused’s lawyer, Alim Khan, argued that the accused should be granted bail because the police had failed to file the charge sheet within the stipulated time.
The court agreed with Khan and granted bail to the accused on certain conditions, including that he should appear in court regularly, refrain from committing any crime, and not try to influence any witnesses.
The court also ordered action against Dr. Hanuwant Singh for his negligence. The court directed the Director General of Police, Rajasthan, the Inspector General of Police, Udaipur Range, and the Superintendent of Police, Udaipur, to take necessary action against the police officer.
