UDAIPUR, June 4, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : Member of Parliament Dr. Manna Lal Rawat has written to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma seeking reservation for residents of Scheduled Areas in the Teaching Associate contractual recruitment being conducted for Rajasthan College Education Society (Rajasthan College Education Society/RajCES) colleges. He stated that the move would benefit nearly one lakh students studying in various colleges across the region.

Dr. Rawat said that no separate reservation provision was made for candidates from the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) area in the current recruitment examination.
In his letter to the Chief Minister, Dr. Rawat stated that Vidya Sambal guest teachers from Scheduled Areas have been demanding reservation for Scheduled Area candidates in the Teaching Associate Recruitment 2026. He noted that the Governor, exercising powers under Paragraph 5(1) of the Fifth Schedule read with Article 244(1) of the Constitution, has implemented special provisions for reservation in educational institutions and appointments under state services in Scheduled Areas.
He stated that, in accordance with these provisions, local residents of Scheduled Areas belonging to SC, ST, OBC and General categories receive reservation benefits in various recruitment examinations conducted in the state.
Dr. Rawat pointed out that the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, Jaipur, had reserved posts for Scheduled Areas in the direct recruitment process for contractual Ayush Officer posts (Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani) under the National Health Mission in 2025. Similar reservations were also provided in the direct recruitment process for various contractual posts under the National Health Mission and Rajasthan Medical Education Society in 2025.
However, he said that no reservation provision has been included for Scheduled Area candidates in the Direct Recruitment 2026 for contractual Teaching Associate posts under the Rajasthan College Education Society conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board.
Dr. Rawat further stated that the Tribal Area Development Department is the nodal department for Scheduled Areas and its comments should be obtained in the matter. He added that he had also discussed the issue with Tribal Affairs Minister Babulal Kharadi, who has shown a positive approach towards the demand.
The MP has requested necessary amendments to the recruitment advertisement to provide reservation for Scheduled Area candidates as per rules. He has also sought 30 percent weightage for experience and an additional relaxation of 10 years in the upper age limit.
