New Delhi, July 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent tour of Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand has been described by BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh as a significant step in strengthening India’s global economic and strategic position.
In an interview with a news agency, Vallabh emphasized that this trip was not limited to bilateral relations but aimed at presenting a robust ‘Indo-Pacific Economic Model’ to the world. He also criticized the ongoing internal conflicts within the Punjab Congress, claiming that the party would be reduced to single-digit seats in the upcoming assembly elections.
Vallabh stated that Modi’s visit would establish a new model of economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The agreements made with the three countries are expected to boost India’s trade, investment, energy, defense, agriculture, and technological development in the coming years. During the Indonesia leg of the tour, extensive discussions were held on critical topics such as defense equipment exports, the steel industry, rare earth processing, and digital public infrastructure. India’s UPI and digital public infrastructure model has become attractive to many countries, with several expressing interest in adopting it.
He noted that the Australia visit focused on uranium and critical minerals, which play a crucial role in battery manufacturing, the semiconductor industry, and high-tech manufacturing. Important discussions were held to enhance the import-export of these minerals between India and Australia, strengthen international trade, and increase cooperation in energy and education sectors. Both countries have immense potential in these areas, and this collaboration is expected to benefit their economies in the future. Regarding the New Zealand visit, Vallabh mentioned that New Zealand is among the leading countries in agricultural technology, with agreements reached on topics such as technological intervention in agriculture, service mobility, and market access.
He added that under the agreements, New Zealand companies are expected to invest around ₹35,000 crore in India by 2030, potentially creating approximately 200,000 new jobs. This agreement is poised to bring significant opportunities for India’s economy and youth. Modi’s entire tour exemplifies how the Indo-Pacific region can become a new center for global trade and economic development, showcasing a successful and practical model of economic cooperation to the world.
Ahead of the Punjab assembly elections, Vallabh raised questions about the Congress party’s internal strife and the claims of state in-charge Bhupesh Baghel that “everything is normal.” He asserted that when a political party becomes leaderless, policy-less, and directionless, such situations arise. The presence of multiple factions within Congress has led to its continuous weakening. If Baghel meets one faction, another becomes disgruntled, and attempts to bring both together often lead to the emergence of a third faction. The situation within Punjab Congress has become a glaring example of Congress’s internal weaknesses nationwide.
Vallabh sarcastically remarked that every Congress leader aspires to become Chief Minister, but they must first understand that to become a Chief Minister, one must be elected as an MLA. He claimed that the party lacks qualified candidates who can win elections and predicted a dismal performance for Congress in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections, asserting that they would be reduced to single-digit seats.
“I say this with full responsibility: Congress will become a single-digit MLA party in Punjab this time. After the election results, you can ask me the same question again. Congress’s MLAs will not exceed single digits,” he concluded.
