Miami, February 16: The Miami Dolphins are preparing to release edge rusher Bradley Chubb, as confirmed by a league source. Chubb, 29, has recorded 22 sacks over three seasons with the Dolphins. He was acquired in November 2022 in a trade that involved a first-round pick sent to the Denver Broncos.
Chubb missed the entire 2024 season due to a torn ACL but has been recognized as an excellent team leader. In 2025, he was voted the Dolphins’ Good Guy of the Year by local media and was also named the team’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his community service.
This decision appears to be related to salary cap management. The Dolphins are also expected to release Tyreek Hill and may consider parting ways with Tua Tagovailoa if they cannot find a trade partner. Releasing Chubb could save the team $20.2 million if designated as a post-June 1 release, although it would result in a $23.8 million salary cap hit spread over two years if not.
The Dolphins’ edge rush group currently includes Chop Robinson and Derrick McLendon, especially after trading Jaelan Phillips to the Eagles last season. The team is likely to address the outside linebacker and edge rusher positions in the first three rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft.
