Paris, 15 November (Udaipur Kiran). Lionel Messi scored one goal and set up another as world champions Argentina defeated Angola 2–0 in an international friendly played on Friday.

Messi assisted Lautaro Martínez in the 44th minute to give Argentina the lead. In the 82nd minute, the roles reversed—Martínez provided a fine assist and Messi fired the ball into the far corner to make it 2–0. Both players were substituted late in the second half.
Ranked second in the world behind Spain, Argentina were clear favourites against Angola, who are placed 87 spots below them. The match was held at the “11 November Stadium” in Luanda to mark 50 years of Angola’s independence.
Argentina qualified for the 2026 World Cup by finishing on top with 12 wins, two draws and four losses, collecting 38 points. Angola, who last played a World Cup in 2006, managed only two wins in the qualifiers and finished 11 points behind group winners Cape Verde.
