Heavy Rainfall Alert for Northeast and Eastern India

New Delhi, March 30: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Northeast and Eastern India. The department forecasts continuous heavy rain in the northeastern states until tomorrow. Additionally, thunderstorms with rain are expected in the plains of West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha. There are also warnings of thunderstorms and lightning in Punjab, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Telangana, and western Rajasthan.

The IMD has specifically issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. Hailstorms are likely in Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim today.

Similar weather conditions are expected in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, South Interior Karnataka, Vidarbha, and the northeastern states. Coastal Karnataka will experience hot and humid weather until tomorrow.

According to the weather department, between March 30 and 31, winds will blow at speeds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan, accompanied by rain. Heavy rainfall with winds reaching 60 kilometers per hour is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and eastern Rajasthan today. An alert has been issued for Uttarakhand due to the forecast of heavy winds and rain across large areas on March 30-31.

Moreover, hail is expected in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir and western Rajasthan today, as well as in Uttarakhand. The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and parts of Chhattisgarh between March 30 and April 2.
