Udaipur, March 30 (Udaipur Kiran): In a major crackdown to curb crime, district police arrested 502 accused persons during a day-long operation conducted across Udaipur on Sunday.
Police teams began action early in the morning, which continued till evening. This is the first area domination drive in the district after the appointment of new SP Dr. Amrita Duhan.
According to SP Dr. Duhan, a total of 220 police teams were formed under the leadership of ASPs Umesh Ojha, Gopal Swaroop Mewara and Anjana Sukhwal. Around 1,044 police personnel participated in the operation. The teams conducted raids at 2,010 locations linked to wanted individuals.
During the drive, 502 accused were arrested, including 98 permanent warrant holders, 12 arrest warrant cases, 207 challaned individuals, 22 absconders, 6 under the Excise Act, 3 under the Arms Act, 1 under the NDPS Act, 143 under other Acts, and 10 involved in serious crimes.
During the operation, teams also checked illegal electricity connections in residential areas. Four illegal connections were detected in the Surajpol area, and action was taken against them.
The SP said such drives will continue in the future and appealed to the public to share information about criminals. She assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
